Just an update

Alright I have removed the starter motor - same problem. Disconnected all tail lights - same problem. Disconnected computer - same problem. Changed the relay holder next to the battery from spare car - same problem. My next option is to pull the dash out and disconnect all the plugs in there and if ...

I did check the battery terminals to ensure they were the correct way around. Lights, stereo and other useless things are working alright.

Thank you Bitza I will disconnect it tomorrow and see what happens. It is the starter out of the spare car I have here because I had a new starter in the car but the solenoid stuffed up so I bolted the other one in. Also I removed the relay box next to the battery to see if changing that will do any...

OK. So far I pulled all the fusible links out, same problem. I cut the wire going to the fuel pump, same problem. I changed the ignition switch wiring harness, same problem. Disconnected the coil, distributor and pulled the dash out ~ so I think I can eliminate them as causing the problem. Next I su...

Thank you RiceThief That is a good idea. I did cut the wire going to the pump and the pump still doesn't work, obviously. But something is still shorting out so I will give your idea with the fusible links a go next and then get back let you know. I think the only thing I fitted into the car is the ...

Thank you RiceThief I might just jack the car up and have a look at the wiring to see if it has rubbed through somewhere. Thank you popup I will have a look in the boot and I think I can just pull the wire off the pump and if that don't work I can just cut it under the bonnet and then join it again ...

Electrical Problem with Ignition (Problem Solved)

I had the car sitting for a month and the battery went a bit dead so me being a bright spark I thought I just chuck a new battery in it. Well after I connected the 800 amp battery (instead of 680 a that I normally got in it) the fusible link gets very hot with the ignition on. That happens only when...

Thank you for this rather unpleasant read and I wish I had not read this article but it makes perfect sense. Next time I have to pull my engine out for something I will use my other block with the balance shafts in it and then I will find out what the real difference in my car will be between having...

Thank you kindly ~ very informative. I have a 3 inch exhaust with a varex muffler on it. When I have the flap in the muffler closed it is quiet and very drivable. When I open the flap the standard clutch slips as soon as I get to about 3500 rpm and it is very loud, awesome but only in the country. W...

My book lists that as 83/84 year and a HEI Type I. MD066838 and mentions it has vacuum advance. The diagram shows the ignitor is actually located inside the dizzy?! Looks like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rotor-Arm-Blu ... 485dc5aa63 _________________ Thank you popup That was a great help for me...

Sometimes things are difficult. http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz112/austarion/Schultz/DSC03508_zpsa148fc8e.jpg That is my rotor button. It is a bolt on only. Normal rotors are push on but oh no we can't have that. My car has to be a pain in the backside. Also my distributor has not got a vacuum...
