Timing markers?

Postby Booyar » Fri Sep 09, 2016 9:18 pm

Hi guys.

I have a Starion block which has an EVO 3 head on it (or so I am told) and I had to change the timing belt. I went off a workshop manual for a Galant VR4 as it was the closest thing I had available when I put the mew timing belt on. So I had the cam gear dowels set at the top with the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock timing marks lined up with the top of the head and the crank shaft timing marker lined up with it's mark on the timing plate (no balance shafts so oil pump timing marker wasn't an issue although I lined it up anyway). My question is, are the markers still correct to use or is there something different about the timing marks I need to be aware of when using a DOHC head on a Starion block?

While I haven't done this myself it makes sense that it would be the same as VR4.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe skydiving just wasn't your sport!
